The placticity of concrete offers the opportunity for custom innovation and individual character in the surface textures, patterns, and shapes of precast concrete.  These textures, patterns, and shapes are achieved by casting against the formliner placed in the mold. Furthermore, formliners can mask minor imperfections that  could be perceivable in a smooth as-cast surface.
